The Immersion UV is available in 16 watt, 25 watt, 40 watt, and 75 watt. These are a "drop-in" style UV designed to go directly into an open filter tank. Is the L2 dimension immersible? Asked another way - Can the tube power connection be immersed or does it have to stay above the water level?
Hello!
Take a look at the attached. Page three of the owner's manual shows ideal setup. The owner's manual is located in the product page information. Submersing just the quartz sleeve is best for longest life of sleeve/lamp.
The ballast should NEVER be submersed.
When referencing the L2 designation, I assume you are looking at this:
Part E (Cable gland) does provide water resistance, so the entire L2 can be submersed by about 10 inches or less. The issue is time and pressure. The cable gland will not be water proof for the life of the unit. At some time, there may be some water that will enter the quartz sleeve and likely cause lamp/quartz sleeve damage. I can’t tell you if that is months or years, but it is recommended to just have L1 in the water.
